No Dallas today.....But...maybe tomorrow. He wasn't feeling well this morning so he stayed home with his mom. I have been trying to read everyone's and stay caught up, but my life has been a little crazy lately with wedding, eight puppies, on-line class I am facilitating, reading a text book anmd writing a syllabus for a course I have never taught or taken! It covers a LOT of stuff. And then my washing machine ate a rug and broke. I put an ad in the paper when the puppies were 6 weeks old since Kaya wasn't able to nurse with the mastitus. The puppies were gone in a day. Basset/lab is a popular mix. Kaya was still having some problems, so with the puppies gone, I took her to the vet with the intent to get her spayed. The Dr. said her problems with still bleeding at six weeks were from her being so small and having so many, such large puppies. Told me to bring her in Monday to get spayed. They called me that afternoon at work....they were all in shock, Kaya was pregnant! She wasn't very far along and they did not think she could handle another litter this soon, so she is now safe. Candace's friend who had the little jack russel that got her the first time came over one day with Ziggy and was only at the house for about ten minutes maybe. They have been together since they were puppies, so they were happy to see each other and chasing each other around....well......the vet said that was a first for her! Kaya is famous again. She did well and is romping through the house all frisky playing with her toys! She isn't even a year old. I am sorry if I haven't had time to respond to people, but I have been reading.

My Wednesday
After we ran a few errands, had ice cream from Dairy Queen, we watched Stuart Little 2.
Dallas was trying to play with the last puppy....with Kaya watching carefully.
Kaya finally relaxed and watched TV with Dallas as Baby Girl snoozed.
He sure loves puppies.
He was so excited when I picked hi up from the playground at daycare, he came charging!

Surprise Getaway
My friend (sister by kindess), past co-worker, Candace's 5th grade teacher and Angela's wedding photographer, who with her husband check on me in storms, and invite me to all holidays with family, tells me like it is, helps me shop when L.J isn't available as my personal shopper, and loves me like I am.......called me and she had a conference with an exhibitor booth to set up (middle school reading) at Jekyl Island , GA. Her husband wasn't going and she didn't want to go by herself.......invited me to join her...at no cost. Her busines paid most. How could I say no!?
I have a lot of fam-friends. They never let me be alone on a holiday or cry by myself. My neighbor and her husband, Michelle and Ed, have rescued me from flooding hot water heaters to things that go "bump in the night". I am really fortunate to have so many caring friends.
It is an island rich in history and old historic homes, 150 year old live oaks complete with moss. The kind that the kid in me wants to climb! They perform over 2000 weddings a year there and have fantastic sunsets and sunrises (if you get up early and drive to the other side of the island). How could I say no and make her go by herself??!!
Here are a few of the wonderful sights I enjoyed.
The MAIN part of the club we were staying at....
One of the cottages
Man and nature comprimising...
The moon in one direction.......
The sun in the other...same time
Faith Chapel....many weddings performed here
Driftwood Beach......yes that speck is me
Through dappled sunlight...a 150 year old live oak
A light house on St. Simon's Island
The gold at the end of the rainbow....
And a wonderful get away..........................

Third Times a Charm..or they are getting desperate
They published my big spotted bird TDSmitty! That makes my 3rd amatuer picture published. They are looking for nature or interesting people of Putnam County. I am proud of my work, even if it isn't professional, but I have to give credit to LJ for helping me pick out such a great camera. Good pictures are an accident! Great camera. Thanks LJ!!! LOve you

Wednesday on Wednesday
No pictures to post....so much going on, even though we had no pictures, we had a good time. He is always so happy to see me. Even his classmates are used to seeing me on Wednesday. I get lots of hugs. We went grocery shopping at Winn Dixie....he got to drive the cart that is a car. Of course he honked at anyone that I got near to....and we got our stuff and left. We got home to a calamity.....the watermain had busted and we had no water. Candace's Bryan checked the meter and we checked with neighbors.....no water. By the time things setttled down, it was cloudy and chilly. We snuggled up on the couch and watched Shrek 3 while we snacked. I sure do love that boy! He always leaves with hugs and kisses blowing until they are out of sight. Maybe next week I'll have pictures. But, we enjoy our time together.

I have been told it was a hawk, a falcon and an osprey. My research leans toward it being an osprey. Is it?Nancy Webb -
Histoic Palatka
This is the front of the house I dog-sit at. It extends pretty deep and has beautiful floors and ten foot ceilings.
These are the houses across the street. Most have been restored nicely.
This is a preserved historic home called the Bronson home. It is one block away.
This old church is two blocks from there.
This is my little church. It is around 153 years old, of course with renovations. But it has some of the original stained glass windows and a huge pipe organ.
It is right on the riverfront.
I got some beautiful sunset shots too.
I had a peaceful solitare walk in the autumn breeze trying to capture the magic of the river and the historic district. Hope everyone has a peaceful week.
